About the Program

The Certified Teachers’ Training Course is one-year intensive Gurukulam-based training under the direct guidance of  Gurukkal Mahesh (Fifth Generation Kalari Gurukkal).

This program focuses on:

1. I don’t have a martial arts background. Can I still join?

Yes. You do not need prior martial arts experience.
You only need basic physical fitness, willingness to learn, discipline, and commitment.

No. You only need to stay in Kerala for the 2-month residential intensive training.
The remaining 10-month internship can be completed at Agasthyam centers or approved training locations.

No. This is a foundational level Trainer Training Program.
Kalaripayattu has multiple advanced levels, and this program covers the essential foundation required to begin teaching safely and authentically.

Not immediately. After the residential phase, you must complete the 10-month internship.
Once you successfully finish the full 1-year program, you can become a Level-1 Certified Trainer.

The recommended age group is 18 to 50 years.
However, exceptions may be considered based on fitness and dedication.
